God of War III

May 8, 2010 18:54 by Dom

I just finished God of War III and basically it is a feast for the eyes.  Although not as challenging as the first 2 games, it is one gorgeous looking game.  The story is a little weak, especially the ending but the experience was phenomenal.  Do yourself a favor and play the first 2 games first, as the story picks up exactly where God of War II leaves off, also play this game on at least a high quality 50 inch 1080p TV, with 5.1 surround.

I grew up on the original Nintendo Entertainment System and boy have video games come a long way,  this is one of the few games I have ever bought full price and felt it was worth every dollar and more.  Check out the PS3 commercial for this LOL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOfZbq4JbF4

Lego Batman & Lego Star Wars

November 20, 2009 10:51 by Dom

Finally got a Playstation 3 in the summer and I've been tearing it up with the Lego series of games with my 4 - year old.  We both cleared Lego Batman and are almost done Episode VI of Lego Star Wars.  These games are so much fun and I am incredibly surprised at how astute my kid is with the challenges.  I find myself amazed that he is able to solve some of the game puzzles as we're playing.  Really looking forward to Lego Indiana Jones II.

I found out from the guy at EB games as I was hunting for a used copy of Lego Indiana Jones that Lego Indiana Jones II contains all of the boards from Lego Indiana Jones I, so I'm not even going to bother with the first game.

The game came out on Tuesday and retails for $50 bucks, I'm going to wait until closer to Christmas to see if I can pick it up for any cheaper than that.  I usually go for the used games or the ones that retailing for under $30.00 cause I cannot justify paying $80 for a new game.

District 9

August 14, 2009 21:52 by Dom

Peter Jackson, what can I say? You've gone from the Lord of the Rings, to the Lord of Sci Fi.  Man was I blown away with this flick.  Very original Alien cinema, haven't seen anything like this ever.  CGI has gone to the point that any off world species would find this movie convincing if it was labelled non-fiction.

Shot documentary style, the plot was good, fast paced with some serious action and special effects.  Absolute realism with Haliburton style mercenaries, Nigerian gangsters and a somewhat inept anti-hero.

You end up rooting for the "Prawns" at the end of the movie, even though most of them are rather hideous and barbaric when you are first introduced to them.

Are you kidding me with the Exosuit? Man, I would turn my right arm alien just to give that Exosuit a ride, and the alien weaponry is straight out of your favourite Playstation 3 first person shooter.

Two Mega Thumbs Up for this ridiculous movie.

Peter Jackson..... this more than makes up for King Kong... a must see 5 out of 5.
